About Kell Squires Pastures

Our Story

We're Mike and Tiffany Squires, and our journey as first-generation farmers began in 2022.

For years, we were both tired of not knowing where our food was coming from, and the pandemic pushed us to finally do something about it.

We spent our honeymoon dreaming up a different life, one rooted in a belief that food should be better for us and better for the land. That dream became Kell Squires Pastures.

We’re incredibly passionate about providing our family and community with food that far exceeds any organic certifications.

Thank you for being a part of our journey!

About Us

Mike

I grew up right here on this land, on our farm in Sheridan, Indiana. My journey into farming began after years of working in the medical field and dealing with my own nagging health issues.

I'm passionate about building a local food system that is transparent, healthy, and rooted in regenerative methods.

Tiffany

I grew up farther north in a small town called Rossville, Indiana, and work as an optician. Like Mike, I faced health issues that led me to question the industrial food system.

Together, we dove headfirst into learning about nutritional density and environmental stewardship, all to build the farm we have today.

Our Methods

Regenerative Methods

Regenerative farming is a method that works to actively improve the land. It’s a cyclical model where farming practices enhance the natural ecosystem, building healthier soil and a more resilient environment.

We believe in a farming philosophy that gives back to the land, ensuring it's healthier and more vibrant for future generations. For us, regenerative methods are a promise to leave the land in better condition than we found it.

Our animals play a vital role in creating healthier land. For example, our chickens are moved to fresh pasture every 24 hours, and their droppings fertilize the natural biome. This practice increases the organic matter in the soil, strengthening the entire ecosystem.

Pasture-Raised Chickens

Both our broiler chickens and our laying hens live as nature intended, on fresh pasture. We believe this is not only healthier for the birds but also for the planet and for you.

Our broiler chickens live in mobile coops that are moved to fresh pasture every 24 hours. This practice gives them access to a new section of land to forage on, which eliminates the need for antibiotics and contributes to a regenerative cycle that improves the soil.

The rest of our flock are free-roaming laying hens who also have constant access to pasture and get to express their natural behaviors. The result is a richer flavor and more nutrient-dense protein in our meat and a higher quality egg.

Forest-Raised Pigs

Our pigs get to be pigs! Fed with soy-free, non-GMO feed, they spend their days in our woods, where they are free to forage for nuts, roots, and other goodies. This natural lifestyle gives our pork a superior, complex flavor that you can’t get from a factory farm.

We proudly stand behind our promise of forage over factories, and it's an honor to provide you with food raised with love.
